A safe space for healing, support and freedom from domestic violence.
RISE - A Survivor Steps Programme: Move Towards Confidence & Healing
RESILIENCE | INSPIRATION | STRENGTH | EMPOWERMENT
This survivor programme is for you if you’re feeling lost, disconnected, or like you’re carrying the weight of your past alone, RISE is here for you. This gentle, movement-based programme is designed for women who experienced difficult relationships, control, or domestic abuse - whether or not you use those words to describe your experience.
You don’t need to be a dancer. You don’t need to be ‘strong’. You just need to show up as you are.
What is RISE?
RISE is a safe, welcoming space where movement is used as a tool to rebuild confidence, ease anxiety, and reconnect with yourself. It’s the only trauma-informed movement therapy class of its kind in the UK, created specifically for women who are looking for a way to feel more like themselves again.
Through simple exercises, gentle dance, and guides movement, RISE helps you:
Release tension and stress stored in your body
Build confidence, step by step
Find a sense of calm and control
Connect with others who understand
Who is RISE for?
If you’ve ever felt like you’ve lost yourself after a difficult relationship, this survivor programme is for you. Whether you’re still finding your way, or feel ready to take your next step, RISE offers a space where you can move at your own pace - physically and emotionally.
You don’t have to talk about your past. You don’t have to explain. Just come as you are, and let movement to the rest.
Take the First Step
If something inside you is saying, “Maybe this could help,” we invite you to give it a try. Many women feel nervous at first, but RISE is designed to be gentle, supportive and pressure-free.
You deserve to feel confident, strong and free in your own body again.
“You have within you, right now, everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you”
- Marie Forleo
What does a typical class look like?
Each class is designed to be gentle, empowering, and supportive, helping you reconnect with your body and emotions in a way that feels safe and uplifting.
01
Grounding & Arrival: We begin with a moment to settle in - a chance to leave the outside world behind and step into a space that is just for you. Through guided breathing, gentle stretching or mindfulness exercises, we create a foundation of safety and presence.
02
Movement & Expressions: Using simple, accessible movement, inspired by dance, we explore ways to release tension, reconnect with confidence, and find freedom in your body. Whether you want to move boldly or take it slow, this is your space to listen to what feels right for you.
03
Reflecting & Closing: The session ends with a moment to reflect, whether through quiet stillness, journaling, or group discussion. You’ll leave with a sense of grounding, inner strength and tools you can take into everyday life.
This is your journey, your way - whether you’re just starting to heal or looking for ways to feel empowered again.
Why Movement Matters?
Trauma affects every part of us, including our bodies. Movement is a powerful way to release what’s been holding you back, helping you feel grounded, strong and in control. You don’t need to be a dancer or have had any previous experience to join - this is about you, your journey and your healing.
CONNECTION
The ultimate form of non-verbal communication, dance allows individuals to connect with their emotions.
BODY POSITIVITY
Through dance, survivors can reclaim ownership of their bodies and experiences, cultivating a sense of empowerment and autonomy.
FEEL-GOOD FACTOR
Dance promotes the release of endorphins, which uplift mood, reduce stress and help foster a positive emotional state.
OVERCOME CHALLENGES
Learning new dance skills and routines challenges survivors to push past their comfort zones and foster a sense of accomplishment.
COMMUNITY
The supportive and inclusive environment encourages survivors to embrace vulnerability, overcome insecurities and celebrate their strengths.
CONFIDENCE
The confidence and resilience gained through dance extends beyond the studio, equipping survivors with valuable skills to go on and THRIVE!
AND SO MUCH MORE…
“So much more than a class. Fi brought me back to myself, and myself back to my family again”
— Laura
