Movement for Confidence and Well-being

Gentle, empowering dance-based sessions for anyone seeking strength, connection and healing.

Ongoing Support Through Movement & Community

DanceBeyond is our aftercare programme, designed to continue supporting you beyond RISE.

Healing from domestic abuse isn’t just about leaving - it’s about rebuilding, regaining confidence, and rediscovering yourself. That takes time, and you don’t have to do it alone. DanceBeyond is here to help you keep growing, connecting, and moving forward in a way that feels right for you.

Through DanceBeyond, you’ll have access to ongoing support that helps you:

  • Strengthen your confidence - develop trust in yourself and your choices as you continue your journey.

  • Find joy in movement - explore dance and movement based practices designed to help you reconnect with your body and emotions.

  • Create lasting change - develop tools and habits that support your resilience, emotional well-being and independence.

This programme offers continued guidance beyond RISE, ensuring that you feel empowered, not just to survive, but to truly thrive.

Ongoing Support and Encouragement

DanceBeyond is the next step in your journey after completing RISE. Designed as an aftercare programme, DanceBeyond offers weekly movement classes that provide continued support, growth and empowerment for domestic abuse survivors. We understand that overcoming domestic abuse is a journey, not a destination. Healing takes time, and rebuilding confidence in movement - just like in life - doesn’t happen overnight. That’s why this space exists: to help survivors of domestic abuse continue their progress in a supportive, familiar environment where you can feel safe, build strength and reconnect.

Many women leaving RISE wonder:

What happens next?

How can I keep growing in confidence?

Am I ready to try new styles or classes?

That's where DanceBeyond comes in.

This programme is here to help you:

  • Continue your movement journey in a familiar, supportive environment

  • Build confidence to explore new styles and try different classes at your own pace

  • Stay connected with a community of women who understand your experiences

  • Prepare to step into community dance classes, feeling strong, capable and empowered

DanceBeyond isn’t just about movement - it’s about believing in yourself and giving yourself permission to explore, try and grow. Whether you want to keep dancing with us or use this as a stepping stone to something new, you are always welcome here.

Community Connection

Healing is not just about surviving - it’s about rebuilding trust, rediscovering joy, and reconnecting with others in a way that feels safe and empowering. That's exactly what DanceBeyond offers.

For many survivors of domestic abuse, isolation can be one of the hardest things to overcome. Whether it’s losing confidence in social situations, feeling disconnected from own body, or struggling to trust again, taking that first step back into a group setting can feel overwhelming.

That’s why DanceBeyond isn’t just about movement - it’s about community.

Our weekly classes provide:

  • Support for victims of domestic abuse in a safe, non-judgmental space

  • A chance to overcome domestic abuse through movement that helps you reconnect with yourself and others.

  • A supportive group of women who understand your journey and will cheer you on

  • The opportunity to rebuild confidence and connection at your own pace, with not pressure

You don’t have to be a dancer, and you don’t have to know anyone before you come. All you need is a willingness to take that first step - and we’ll be here to welcome you.

You are not alone. You are part of something bigger. Join us and experience the power of community in your healing journey.

“Movement helped me reconnect with myself in a way I could never have imagined possible. Every session helped me let go of fear, rebuild my confidence and feel more like ‘me’ again”

Physical and Emotional Wellness

Trauma affects both the mind and body, leaving behind tension, stress, and a sense of disconnection. DanceByond is designed to help you gently release weight, using movement as a powerful tool for healing. Science shows that dance lowers cortisol (the stress hormone), boosts endorphins (your brain’s natural feel-good chemicals), and improves body awareness - helping you feel more present, in control, and confident.

In this class, you’ll reconnect with yourself in a safe, supportive space. You’ll move in ways that feel good for you, rebuilding trust in your body, releasing stored emotions, and discovering a sense of freedom that words alone can’t provide. No pressure, no expectations - just a chance to breathe, move and rediscover your strength.

  • The term survivor is used to describe someone who is currently navigating or has completed the recovery process. We choose this word instead of victim to acknowledge and honour the ongoing strength and resilience of those who have endured abuse.

  • Recovery has no set timeline - each journey is unique. It may take months, years, or even decades to heal. In some cases, the impact of an abusive relationship can be so profound that full recovery may not be possible. However, psychological support can help ease the pain and facilitate the healing process.

  • Emotional support - avoid judging their choices or making them feel guilty for their decisions. Recognize that you cannot "rescue" them—their life decisions are theirs to make. Refrain from speaking negatively about their abusive partner. Instead, focus on supporting them and assisting in the creation of a safety plan.
